Linda Joffrion

Heavenly Dog Paws Sanctuary

Linda Joffrion, a retired small business owner, along with her husband founded Heavenly Dog Paws Sanctuary in Folsom in 2015. Linda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Math Education.

Heavenly Dog Paws Sanctuary, a 501(c)(3) animal rescue charitable trust, began when its founders, Linda and Pat Joffrion, opened their personal home to four abandoned and neglected dogs from Alabama and Florida.  With the acquisition of an eight-acre tract in Folsom, Louisiana, limited space no longer hampered their rescue efforts.  The new facility has functionally designed kennels that

include temperature control, sanitary systems and surfaces, and acres of shade trees inside the two-acre fenced exercise yards. The Sanctuary can now house twenty adult dogs comfortably and safely. They opened the doors to the first rescue dog on April 1, 2015.

Heavenly Dog Paws Sanctuary provides a meaningful haven for dogs and expectant momma dogs previously destined for meaningless destruction. We offer the community an alternative to kill-shelter animal control. Dogs and other animals are given the opportunity to live out their days in the comfort and company provided by an organization dedicated to the proper care for animals while awaiting adoption.

Dr. Sophia Omoro

Founder, Blooming Lily Foundation

President, odAOMO

Dr. Sophia Aomo Omoro is Chief Executive Officer & Sole Designer behind the odAOMO label. She was born and raised in Kenya, to a seamstress mother, who greatly influenced her passion for fashion from a very young age. As a child, she and her siblings would simply draw a garment of choice and their talented mother would take this from a crude drawing, to a pattern, and ultimately a completed garment.

Of course, the downside to this was that hems were invariably much longer than requested, the garments much looser, and perhaps worst of all, at least three of the six girls always had the same dress and/or fabric at any given time. Nevertheless, although then naively unappreciated, the luxury of well-made, fashionable, “custom” clothing seeded her subsequent pursuit of her own line.

In the interim, her education and subsequent medical career took her from Kenya, to Victoria, BC, Huntsville, AL, New Orleans, LA, Seattle, WA, and now Covington, LA.  She remains a dedicated, fully practicing Otolaryngology surgeon, while she finds balance in fashion and philanthropy.  Her fashion career up to now includes a strong stretch as a runway model for top designers. This “insider” understanding of the importance of wearable and practical fashion has helped guide her designs. She proudly shares this with you.

The label boasts a luxurious line of unique garments and accessories, individually handmade in Kenya by a handpicked core team. Exclusively designed by Dr. Sophia Aomo Omoro, the underlying aesthetic is an effortless combination of cross-cultural beauty foci. The result is a metamorphic, very wearable collection with a global appeal.  Only very limited quantities are made, making the collection very exclusive.

Melissa R. Henry

Saint Tammany Parish Clerk of Court

Melissa chose to run for Clerk of Court in the 2015 Election.  Melissa had been working at the Clerk of Court's office for about four and a one-half years and was trained in eight of the eleven departments. She was promoted to the Land Record's Department Head prior to considering running for office.

When the opportunity presented itself, it became clear that Melissa had the experience working the Clerk's Office and prior experience of owning her own Net Branch of a National Mortgage Company and Federally Chartered National Bank for over 10 years.  This experience gave her an incredible amount of knowledge that was useful in the Clerk's Office.

During this time, Melissa trained and became licensed as a State-Wide Notary Public.  Her training included FHA, FNMA, FRMC, VA and RD lending practices. She taught Fraud in Banking and Ethics Classes and was recognized as one of the top mortgage branches in the Country receiving the Chairman's Award and Best Branch award out of 350 plus branches nationwide.

Since taking office July 1, 2016, many new and exciting changes are taking place to benefit both the citizens of Saint Tammany and the businesses that depend on the Clerk's office.

Antonio LeMon

Antonio LeMon is part of District Attorney Warren Montgomery’s Executive Staff as Chief of the Civil Division and head of the Pre-trial Intervention Program, also known as Diversion. Mr. LeMon grew up in New Orleans with two parents from Europe. He graduated from the University of New Orleans with a business management degree and then went on to Loyola University Law School.

After graduating from Loyola, Mr. LeMon opened a private law firm, practicing mostly civil law for nearly 30 years before joining the new Montgomery administration in 2015. Among Mr. LeMon’s clients were the “Exchanges” for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard in which he litigated longshore cases, involving injuries on military bases throughout the country.

Mr. LeMon moved to the north shore in 1993 and has been active in a number of non-profit organizations and endeavors. He graduated from Leadership St. Tammany in 2012 and became a member of the board, helping to prepare community leaders for generations to come. He also serves on the board of the Tammany Trace Foundation, which helped to build the Kids Konnection Playground, a $1 million outdoor play center for children of all abilities. The Tammany Trace Foundation soon will unveil Kids Town, a kid-sized town that will feature a mini- grocery store, bank, post office, and other buildings, just steps away from Kids Konnection. The facility will serve as the temporary home to the much-anticipated Children’s Museum of St. Tammany until the permanent one is built. Mr. LeMon also serves on the board of the Children’s Museum.

Mr. LeMon was one of the co-founders of the Eggstravaganza Easter egg hunt, rubber duck race, and family fun day, which is a significant fundraiser for Kids Town. He also founded Celebration—the annual auction and culinary showcase that is the biggest fundraiser for the Children’s Museum.

Until recently, Mr. LeMon served on a parish committee helping to plan the comprehensive mental health facility, called Safe Haven. He traveled with a group from St. Tammany to San Antonio, Texas, to get a firsthand look at how such a facility can work. He now serves on the Jail Diversion subcommittee of the group.

Mr. LeMon is involved in a number of other smaller foundations. He is married to local artist Elizabeth Impastato, and he has a 27-year-old son, who suffers from a severe mental disability, and a 25-year-old daughter. Away from his professional and community service work, Mr. LeMon is a marathon runner and tri-athlete, and he has competed in past “Iron Man” competitions.
